Cardiological and angiological procedures
MediConnect® is the established CVIS platform for imaging and findings management in the field of cardiology. With its high number of interfaces, MediConnect® can be flexibly integrated in existing IT, medical technology, and network architectures. The reporting workflows, which can be easily adapted without the need for programming, enable documentation to be tailored to individual customers and their specific requirements. MediConnect® enables you to cover all the requirements of a future-proof cardiovascular information system in your clinic.
Non-invasive methods of functional diagnostics
With or without imaging, the various non-invasive diagnostic procedures can be characterized by an extremely heterogeneous device structure. Thus it is essential that in nearly all hospitals, functional diagnostic equipment as well as expert analysis software from a wide range of manufacturers are used in parallel. MediConnect® integrates the data from these isolated applications and supports uniform management process. Whether waveforms, images, loops, measured values, or texts, it is simple to create reports, even with complex workflows. You can generate a template-based findings report at the touch of a button.
Echocardiography
The echocardiography module enables the comprehensive documentation of echocardiographic procedures, including optional image analysis with Tomtec IMAGE-COM. MediConnect® simplifies workflows with the help of the MediConnect® DICOM viewer and offering structured pathways towards a diagnosis and has all the tools required for post-processing, analyzing, and implementing echocardiographic measurements in a network. It offers a comprehensive range of 2D, M-mode, and Doppler measurements based on published ASE guidelines. All measurements, including those imported from the ultrasound system, are summarized in a worksheet. The longitudinal view of recurrence parameters given by structured data transfer is beneficial for both clinical routine and studies.
Duplex sonography
As an additional module for echocardiography, the duplex sonography module offers the combined display of a blood vessel as a sectional image with a simultaneous function for measuring the blood flow in the vessel. The diagnostic pathway with the integrated DICOM viewer includes the measurement and documentation of all relevant examination regions of vascular constrictions and occlusions. For example in the context of carotid stenosis or deep vein thrombosis of the leg. It offers a comprehensive range of 2D and Doppler measurements based on ICAVL recommendations. All measurements, including those imported from the ultrasound system, are combined in a multimodal viewer.
Cardiac MRI/CT
Cardiac MRI is now established as a new, non-invasive procedure for assessing numerous cardiological diseases and is a preferred diagnostic procedure in some areas. Cardiac CT – also known as cardio CT or computer tomography of the heart – is a modern X-ray diagnostic procedure that can be regarded as a gentle and reliable alternative to a heart catheter. With its Cardio MRT/CT imaging procedure module, MediConnect® provides the findings pathway developed for this purpose and integrates it in the MediConnect® patient file.
Electrocardiography
The modular, scalable MediConnect® ECG data management system integrates your examination data, including resting ECG, ergometry, and Holter monitoring across all manufacturers, thereby optimizing workflows and the flow of information. MediConnect® displays all ECGs uniformly across all manufacturers. Patient's examination data is immediately available to use through local installations of MediConnect® or accessed remotely through the internet. Bidirectional communication between the hospital information system, the clinical workstation system, the PACS (if applicable), and the existing ECG infrastructure are tailored to the structure of your hospital, and is the basis for increased efficiency and rapid diagnostics. Despite different devices from various manufacturers, by providing the raw data in the MediConnect viewer with the measurement tools you can measure the ECGs, compare them with older examinations in a parallel display, and make structured findings – another step towards digitizing your clinic.
Device Follow-up
The MediConnect®: Device Follow-up module is ideal for cohesion between hospital units. Highly automated, it allows you to track recovery programmes and examinations per patient. The pacemaker/ ICD follow-up data sets are imported from all common manufacturers via WIFI, normalised and stored in the MediConnect® databases. Feel the ease with complete data-protected transfers of information. Additionally, serial numbers can be stored in the MediConnect database, ensuring easy filtering of devices, in case of a device recall. If in the case of a recall, a corresponding workflow has been established for processing and documenting recalls. Of course, the Device Follow-up module is optionally integrative combined with the Interventional Rhythmology – Device Implantation modules as well as the telemedical procedures modules.
Vascular diagnostics
Under MediConnect®, specialties such as angiology are cared for with the vascular diagnostics system. Using various diagnostic pathways, including the option to connect to Doppler devices, MediConnect® works with various systems, such as the Continuous Wave Doppler, frequency analysis, the pulsed Doppler for transcranial Doppler examination, and capillary microscopy using DICOM. Combined with the duplex sonography module, our vascular diagnostics module will become an indispensable part of daily routine, where workflows are structured efficiently and digitally.
Interventional procedures
Less Administrative Work – Better Structured Data – More Time for the Patient
Keeping these requirements in mind, MediConnect® maps all the interventional diagnostic examinations and procedures that need to be documented in invasive cardiology and angiology. With its well and efficiently structured information management capability, MediConnect® is an ideal platform for sophisticated requirements. The adaptable documentation pathways optimize the working method through integrated MediConnect® materials management, QA management, seamless integration of medical technology, and the automated generation of clinical reports and performance figures. The integrated DICOM server with the standard DICOM functionalities, the transfer of parameters from the X-ray systems, and the automatic transfer of measured values from the respective haemodynamics units are also part of the system, as is a multimodal display and storage of catheter films and measured values from all common manufacturers.
Cardiac catheters – diagnostic and interventional procedures
MediConnect® provides the basic cardiac catheter module for the areas of diagnostic cardiac catheter examinations and interventional procedures on the coronary arteries, providing documentation pathways for the standard therapy procedures for symptomatic CHD. These pathways are efficiently supported by the integration of the medical technology systems of angiography, haemodynamics, FFR, OCT, etc., simplified service coding and QA documentation, and integration in materials management. Thus, in addition to the IT-supported creation of clinical findings reports, and the automated acquisition of clinical parameters for study purposes, you can also achieve optimized inventory management. Therefore, both a medical and an economic view of the orders is carried out.
Heart valves – replacement and reconstruction
As an extension of the cardiac catheter module, the documentation requirements for interventional procedures for valve replacement, e.g., TAVI, or for the reconstruction of the mitral valve are included in this module, as well as for interventional procedures for structural heart diseases. These include, for example, atrial ear closure for stroke prophylaxis in atrial fibrillation, interventional ASD closure in case of compromise of the right heart, PFO closure for secondary prevention after stroke, and alcohol septum ablation (TASH) in HOCM.
Interventional procedures on peripheral vessels
With MediConnect® you can document catheter-assisted interventions on peripheral vessels. For the treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAD), a special diagnostic pathway for percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) has been developed. It contains an interactive documentation of segment-specific stenoses of the peripheral vessels. This module is based on that of the cardiac catheter.
Interventional rhythmology – ablation procedure (EPU)
This module, which is based on the cardiac catheter module, serves in an efficient and innovative way to document interventional examinations/interventions for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias using ablation therapy. MediConnect® enables you to work efficiently and innovatively by integrating EP recording systems with an automatic structured data transfer, documentation of individual arrhythmias, connection of 3D mapping systems, and embedding materials management and service recording.
Interventional rhythmology – device implantation
Another indispensable module in the MediConnect® family is used to document interventional procedures for implanting active devices to treat cardiac arrhythmias. The uniform documentation pathway covers the implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators, devices for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT/CRT-D), and implantable loop recorders (ILR). Thanks to integrated materials management, the implants are assigned to the respective patient through the scan function (documentation of serial numbers, lot numbers, and shelf life) and are already available for the first follow-up in the Device Aftercare module. In interaction with the integrated service recording, all the specifications for QA documentation (9.1–9.6) defined by IQTIG are stored in this module.
